How to use Borneo Schematics

1. Order and collect your activation code

Choose a licence on the pricing page and order it. The one field that matters is your email address — that is where the activation code is sent, and a typo there is the only mistake in this whole process that costs real time.

Codes are issued in 1–6 hours. Check your spam folder before assuming something went wrong; that is where it is about half the time.

2. Install the runtime before the app

Borneo Schematics renders its interface through Microsoft Edge WebView2. If that runtime is missing or older than version 149, the application installs perfectly and then closes a second after you launch it, with no error message. It looks like a broken download; it is not.

Install the official Borneo Runtime Installer first. It bundles WebView2, .NET Framework 4.8 and the Visual C++ redistributables in one pass. Reboot afterwards, even if it does not ask you to.

3. Install Borneo Schematics to drive C

Download the current full setup from updateborneo.com, or from our download page, which mirrors Borneo's own Mega, Google Drive and MediaFire links. Install it to drive C. The app expects to find itself there; installs onto a second drive produce failures that look like licensing problems and are not.

Before extracting, add the destination folder to your antivirus exclusions — repair tooling routinely trips heuristic scanners, and a half-quarantined install is far more annoying to diagnose than a blocked one.

Installing a newer build over an older one is fine. You do not need to uninstall first, and your licence is untouched.

4. Register a new account — or renew an existing one

Open C:\Borneoschematic and start the .exe. What you press next depends on whether you have used Borneo before. Both paths take the same activation code, both report success, and only one of them does what you want — so this is the step to read twice.

Copy the code, do not retype it. Codes are long, single-use, and one wrong character reads to the server as an invalid code rather than as a typo.

5. Sign in and find the model

Sign in with your account. The panel shows your expiry date — that is your confirmation the licence applied. Then search by model name or board number. Most devices give you a schematic diagram and a matching boardview; many also carry documented hardware repair solutions for their common failures. Our supported models list is searchable, and the official model support list is the final word — the library grows with each release.

A 1 User licence permits one signed-in session at a time. Signing in on a second machine ends the first session. If two benches need to work simultaneously, that is what the 2 Users licences are for.

6. Trace the fault instead of guessing

The workflow that saves the most time on a dead-board job:

• Start from the symptom — no charge, no backlight, no signal — and locate the relevant rail on the schematic.
• Follow that net through every component in the path, using the designators to jump to the boardview.
• Measure at the documented voltage and resistance points. A reading that disagrees with the reference is your fault, and you have narrowed a whole board down to one net.
• Check the known-fault notes for that model before desoldering anything. The part that usually fails is usually the part that failed.

Common problems

The app opens and closes immediately

WebView2. Install the runtime installer, reboot, retry. This is the single most common report.

My activation code will not work

Three causes, in order of likelihood: the code was retyped rather than pasted; Register was pressed when Renewal was needed (or the reverse); or the code has already been used once. Codes are single-use. If none of those apply, send us your order number — we can see the order and the code from our side.

I paid, but the tool says my licence has not changed

Check which account you are signed in as. Pressing Register when you meant Renewal creates a second account and puts the new time on that one. The licence did arrive; it is on the other account. Tell us before ordering again.

"Session expired" on every login

Update to the newest build — a recent release specifically fixed this. See the update log.

Schematics will not open although I am signed in

Your licence has probably expired. Check the expiry date on your account panel, or at the portal, before assuming it is a software fault.

It was working, now it will not start

Check your antivirus quarantine. An update to the scanner's definitions can retroactively quarantine files it previously allowed.
